Start from the end of Pearse Valley Road in the Motueka Valley. Fo llow the Pearse River upstream with multiple river crossings, until we get to a large grassy clearing near the resurgence of the Pearse River, where t he river emerges from the caves under the Pearse Valley. Beautiful clear wa ter and interesting karst features. 5km each way, approx 6 hours retu rn. High chance of seeing whio (blue duck). There are multiple river crossings on this walk with slippery rocks, and the water is very col d. Come wearing boots or shoes with good grip that you are happy to g et wet. A walking pole or two will also be handy. We will need good weather without recent heavy rain. 4WD vehicles needed to access the road end.
