Stone Hut - Mt Luna Tops - Kiwi Saddle
Saturday early morning, dri ve to Rolling River carpark. 6-7 hrs walk to Stone Hut (10 bunks, $5), alon g the Wangapeka Track.
Sunday, follow the route over Mt Luna (1630m), tops and ridges, to Kiwi Saddle Hut (6 bunks, $5). Guess 6+ hrs. It is a m ostly unmarked route, including steep sections and rock scrambling!
M onday (Anzac), walk back to carpark, 6 hrs, and drive home.
Bring sle eping mats and/or tents, as the huts might be full.
I have not done t his trip. I am very happy for someone to join who has been up Mt Luna befor e and/or can help with route finding.
Please note: I'll be guiding in CHCH and am out off range till Friday night, the day before departure. The refore, Rob has offered to coordinate car pooling and to make the weather c all. He will also co-lead the trip. So, you 'll get an email from him, not from me, after you register.
