Hartebreak Ridge is an unofficial track in the Hacket Valley and is name d after the creator Alan Hart. It has been infrequently used over the years with trips recorded in 2001, 2006 and 2016 and since then it has bec ome overgrown and difficult to find and follow. The club has re cently done some work on this track to make it useable again, although this is still a work in progress.
The track branches off at the Miner Riv er (Whisering Falls) confluence and heads up past points 447, 596 and 822 t o re-join the track down to Totara Saddle and then down past Browning Hut.& nbsp; The ridge is in the mineral belt with scrubby vegetation and some gor se and jagged rocks. Higher up there are some tall trees which make a nice canopy and more pleasant walking.
This trip is not intended to be a working bee. My plan is to keep moving and try and complete the circuit is a reasonable time. Most of the track has been cleared and marked apart from one section of about 170 metres near the top.
