Description
[Note: Leaving Friday before midday. This trip is suitable for ice axe & crampon practIce. Also requires 2 vehicles for shuttle.] Friday: Drive 3 hrs to Kowhai River carpark. Slog up the 4WD road to Fyffe Hut (6km). Saturday. 1 hour up road to summit (1602m) with spectacular views over Kaikoura. Traverse easy ridge, then down to Kowhai Saddle & Hapuku Hut (9km).
