Description  

The track follows a ridge and climbs steeply for the first couple of hours but then sidles for the last couple of km to  Richmond Saddle Hut 1200m.  Once here a quick stop for lunch and drop off some of our gear to tackle the scree slope to the summit of Mt Richmond.  It takes approx 2hrs to reach the summit from the hut.  From there we will drop down the other side of the ridge and try to find the wreckage of Kereru - near Johnston Peak lies the wreckage of Kereru.  An NAC Lockhead Electra ZK-AFE which came to grief in 1942.
