Description  

Flora Hut restoration.

It is all go for the 3 days 1-3 March. We have met with Tom Young (DoC, Motueka) who is responsible for the workplan for the old hut this time around.

Remove roofing iron and lead nails (threat to keas).Tidy up iron. Replace building paper. Replace iron using screw fasteners. Repaint roof. Other minor repairs and general clean up. Build new picnic table. DoC will supply all materials including ladders and specialist tools. We supply labour and light tools.

We will camp on-site, although some bunks will probably be available. We will also supply all our own food and cooking gear. You should plan to come for one, two or three days. Your family and friends are also very welcome. We hope to make it a bit of a social occasion. It will not be all work-work and we intend that, with enough workers at any one time, others can do 1/2 day walks to local attractions - Mt Arthur Hut, Mt Lodestone, Rock Shelters etc.
