SUMMARY:Saddle Hill made Easy
URL;VALUE=URI:https://www.live.nelsontrampingclub.org.nz/events/calendar/1548/saddle-hill
 -made-easy?tmpl=component
DESCRIPTION:CLOSED to further registrations.\nSaddle Hill (1217m) sits above the Maitai
Dam and provides expansive and all-round views. (Hence the radio masts as
well!)\nIt's nearby 'sister" or 'first double' is 1168 m with about 2 km (a
nd a low saddle) between them. From the carpark near the Caretaker's House
at the dam it is just over a 900m climb to the First Double, then down and
up again to the Second Double or Saddle Hill. So it is a good workout but t
he views make it worthwhile.\nNTC has been doing maintenance work on the tr
ack from Teal Saddle including replacing missing track markers! The other t
rack from Maungatapu Saddle is no longer maintained by DOC either, so the C
lub plans to replace any missing track markers on that track as well.\nOn S
unday 12th October, the Club has arranged a 4WD Shuttle (Scottish Express)
to take trampers and track volunteers up to Maungatapu Saddle for an easier
walk-in to both peaks. That will take approx 500 m off the climb and save
a couple of hours of climbing. It will still leave a good workout across th
e top, and the 1000m descent back to the Carpark. It will also  give more t
ime for the Club to replace any missing markers.\nWe need a few volunteers
for the maintenace work, but the event is open to all interested trampers.[
$12 including the Shuttle). A small 'team' will be needed to walk up the Zi
g Zag Track towards the First Double to check those track-markers. (I will
 be one of those!)\nTrip Leader : Graeme Ferrier\nPhone : 022 162 1676\nEma

2025\nGrading : Select an appropriate grade for the hardest day on your Tri

ost of a trip. The trip co-ordinator will complete these values. However, i
f you know the values, for example by using Google Maps, then by all means
complete. Make sure the values (double to include return journey) are corre
ct to be fair to the drivers and participants. IMPORTANT: The rate table ne
eds to have a month and year value for cents/kilometre. Trip coordinator is
  responsible to entering this information.\nCost $ : 12\nSealed km (Enter t
