SUMMARY:Mt Ellis via Hunters Hut and out via the Wairoa
URL;VALUE=URI:https://www.live.nelsontrampingclub.org.nz/events/calendar/1371/mt-ellis-vi
 a-hunters-hut-and-out-via-the-wairoa?tmpl=component
DESCRIPTION:Day 1 We access the start via Inwoods lookout at 1020M.  Walk to Hunters Hu
t over Gordons Range climbing to 1519 on Gordons Range before dropping to c
ross the Motueka River (unbridged) to Hunters Hut at 850M. 8 bunks.\nDay 2
Return across Motueka River and steadily climb to Mt Ellis 1615M. We cross
the tops and descend to Top Wairoa Hut 820M (6 bunks). 12Km. 6 hrs.\nDay 3
Drop into the bush and follow the Wairoa River L branch down to Mid Wairoa
Hut. 6 bunks. This section has slippery sidles, steep drop offs and about 8
river crossings. 8km 4hrs.\nDay 4 Walk out to cars. This section of track
is not well maintained, there are steep drop offs, a couple of river crossi
ngs and likely tree falls. The track finishes at the Bike park and there is
a 2km road walk to the cars  5 hrs.\nThe huts are small we will need to ta
ke some tents. I am hoping we can arrange friends or family to drop us off
and pick up, otherwise. Track transport in Nelson could drop us at Inwoods
Lookout for $60 each, cheaper if theer are 10 people.\nTrip Leader : Kath B
