Robert Ridge Snow skills tramp While I have cancelled the planned weekend snow skills training trip for the weekend, I plan to do a Sunday walk up Robert Ridge to find snow to practice your skills in. Last Sunday, on a private trip, while there wasn't a lot of snow in the basins, we had lovely hard steep snow on the ridge edge to practice our skills. The weather forecast is for rain and snow on Saturday, clearing to possible light snow on Sunday. It will be cold, forecast -1 or -2, and with wind (moderate) may be -5 degrees. Real winter conditions to practice in. Depart Nelson 7.30pm sharp from Badminton hall (meet at 7.20am please). Meet people from other areas at the DoC office at 8.45am. Bring ice axe and crampons. Let me know if you need to borrow the club gear (only 6 sets) or borrow from friends if possible. Holding faith for a great day on Sunday, but I may have to cancel at short notice. |

It is IMPORTANT that "You contact the Trip Leader before registering" for a trip. Especially if you are new to the club or a non-club member (Visitor). The Leader will need to be confident that you have the experience, fitness and the correct gear to complete the trip successfully. :-)
