To avoid the nasty Saturday weather forecast, let's do a daytrip on Sunday :-) Beginning at the Maitai Dam, walk up the South Branch up into Windtrap Gully, topping out on Dun Saddle. A short scramble gets us to the old Dun Shelter, a red stone's throw from the trig pipe. A traverse of the Bryant Range over Dun Mtn and Little Twin brings us to the Dew-bious Lakes. A left turn follows the historic Maori trail down to the argillite quarry and Rush Pools. A steep-ish descent is made back to the Dam. Distance: 22km Please register here first. The leader needs all names and contact details in case of emergency. Yep, even on a humble day trip :-) |
